Hello, I'm selling this vintage - antique group of children's books. Some are more valuable than others, but they came in a group and I thought I would keep them that way. Condition ranges from fair, good-minus, good, good-plus, very good-minus and very good. Here is a list of the 10 books with short description. If you're looking for pretty books to restore or use for other things, this lot is for you. If you're looking for prefect books, they are not for you. All are as is. Please review photos for defects. ALL BOOKS ARE HARDBACKS, no dust covers. All pages are honey/butter toned from age. Smoke free. 1. The Jolly Book, Nelson's Children's Annual edited by Edward Shirley, fifth year. Thomas Nelson and Sons. Decorative end papers, previous owner name and inscription, staple mark from prior owner. Frontispiece has a closed tear, 320 pages, with both b/w and full color illustrations. Has a slight gutter crack at page 319, covers show wear and age, bumped corners and some stains. Condition is good-minus. I did not find a date, however, they were published from 1910-1927, so logically this would be 1915. The book has some heavy wear on the edges, but appears to be complete and intact. Measures 8 x 10.25 x 1.5 inches. The book is a compilation of short stories. - photos at the bottom of this listing. 2. The Tin Woodsman of Oz by L. Frank Baum. John R O'Neill Illustrator. The Reilly and Britton Co Chicago 1918. This book is partially dis-bound and has been taped on both outside and inside, the cover and edges show heavy wear, there is spine, edge and corner fray. There is a large gutter crack between the ffep and pre title page, this is where the tape is. 288 pages, has decorative end papers, with both b/w and full color illustrations. There is a 4 inch closed tear on the lower part of page 233/234 and a 1 inch closed tear at the top. There is another gutter crack at the back of the book at the end papers. The book looks to be complete and intact, I would say it's in fair or good-minus condition, it needs work. Measures about 7 x 9.25 x 1.5 inches. 3. The Patchwork Girl of Oz by L. Frank Baum. John R O'Neill Illustrator. The Reilly and Britton Co Chicago 1913. Decorative end papers. Previous owner name in pencil. 348 pages, 340 for the book then there are 8 more pages after that with bios of other books in the series. There is a scuff, or paper peel mark on the front cover upper right corner. The book is illustrated in black and white, and does not appear to have any color illustrations as published. Book appears to be complete and intact. Condition is good-plus, sturdy binding, clean and unmarked text. Nice over all. Measures about 7 x 9.25 x 1.5 inches. 4. Rinkitink in Oz by L. Frank Baum. John R O'Neill Illustrator. The Reilly and Britton Co Chicago 1916. The book has typical exterior wear, small white spot on front cover, decorative end papers, previous owner name and inscription (faint). Some slight spots on back cover, 315 pages, with both b/w and full color illustrations. Book appears to be complete and intact. Condition is good-plus, sturdy binding, clean and unmarked text. Nice over all. Measures about 7 x 9.25 x 1.5 inches. 5. Sky Island by L. Frank Baum. John R O'Neill Illustrator. The Reilly and Britton Co Chicago 1912. Decorative end papers. Previous owner name, date, gift inscription. Gutter crack at ffep and belongs to page. Two color illustrations are loose, chipping, not sure where they go. Text block is clean, not marked. 287 pages, with both b/w and full color illustrations. Book appears to be complete, but I don't know where those loose illustrations go, so I can't be sure. Some spine fray, edge and corner fray I would call the condition fair to good-minus. Cover has some chipping from the illustration, small but present. There is a start of a gutter crack on the inside back cover and also some marks on the back cover. Measures about 7 x 9.25 x 1.5 inches. 6. Grimms' Fairy Tales illustrated by Ella Dolbear Lee. Published by M. A. Donohue and Co.1920. Decorative end papers. Previous owner name, date, gift inscription. 229 pages, with both b/w and full color plate illustrations. Book appears to be complete and intact. Compilation of short stories. Very slight paper crack at back cover gutter, minor. Has normal, typical wear, some scuff marks on back cover but overall nice copy, nice condition, somewhere in between good-plus and very good-minus. Measures 7.75 x 10.25 x 1.25 inches. 7. Life and Adventures of Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe. Rand McNally and Co. 1916, 1938 edition. 382 pages, with full color illustrations. Some paper age spots or stains between frontispiece and title page. Book appears to be complete and intact. Clean and unmarked, overall nice condition between very good-minus and very good. Typical book wear on covers and edges. Measures 6.75 x 9.25 x 1.5 inches. 8. Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. Rand McNally and Co. (undated), Decorative cloth embossed covers, clean and unmarked text, typical wear from age. 238 pages with full color plate illustrations. Book appears to be complete and intact. Overall very good condition. Measures 5.5 x 8 x 1.25 inches. 9. The Marvelous Land of Oz by L. Frank Baum. John R O'Neill Illustrator. Dover Publications 1904, 1961. 286 pages, with both b/w and full color plate illustrations. This appears to be a later smaller version of the older Oz series. Missing original dust cover, and some silverfish damage to front cover paper. Book appears to be complete and intact. Condition is good-plus. Measures 5.5 x 8.25 x 1 inch. 10. Five Little Peppers and How they Grew by Margaret Sidney. Lothrop Publishing Co. Boston, 1881. Decorative cloth embossed covers, clean and unmarked text, typical wear from age. 410 pages, plus 2 advert pages at the end of the book. Book appears to be complete and intact. Condition is somewhere in between good-plus and very good-minus. Measures 5.5 x 7.25 x 1.25 inches. A nice group to add to your collection of children's readers. Wonderful illustrations thru-out.
