ITEM DETAILS Title: The Family Magazine; or, Monthly Abstract of General Knowledge, Illustrated with Several Hundred EngravingsPublisher: J. S. Redfield, New YorkPublication Date: 1840 Edition: First Edition Edition: Volume VII Condition: Good ITEM DESCRIPTION Today we are pleased to offer this nicely preserved illustrated volume! A great find from a local New England estate! This scarce antique volume is over 183 years old! First edition. In nice condition overall! Original publisher half leather binding with marbled boards shows some wear but has a great antique look to it! Wear includes rubbing and soiling to the boards and spine, moderate chipping and some flaking to the leather spine, some general wear around the extremities including chipping, bumping to the corners and spine extremes, and some spotting and soiling to the page edges. Otherwise this is an attractive, well-preserved antique volume! Gilt title lettering to the spine is faint but can still be read from the shelf. Internally, this volume is in good shape, with both boards attached to the binding and all page groupings secure. There is some cracking to both the front hinges, however the board remains secure. The rear free endpaper is stuck to the pastedown endpaper. Otherwise clean with no bookplates, signatures, inscriptions or library markings to note. The text block of this volume is generally clean throughout. There is typical age-related toning to the pages, some light foxing and soiling scattered throughout, as well as some light damp-staining in the margins, but otherwise this volume is clean and free from rips, tears, writing and markings. Perfectly readable throughout! Profusely illustrated with wood engravings. Make sure to see the additional photographs in the description below for a thorough look through this volume. 472 pages. Measures approximately 10 3/4 inches tall by 7 1/2 inches wide by 1 1/4 inches thick. A perfect addition to any fine collection or a wonderful gift for someone special!
