Description: Thomas H. Burrowes was a writer and educator who served as fourth president of the Pennsylvania State University. He was also instrumental in forming the PSEA under the guise of the Pennsylvania State Teachers Association. he also served as Secretary of the Commonwealth, Mayor of Lancaster, and was founder and editor of the Pennsylvania School Journal. And he wrote this geography text which became the property of Daniel A. Naregang who wrote his name boldly on the spares, and with less vigor inside the back. He also kept multiple four-leaf clovers pressed inside. Other than that, an interesting title “containing an account of the Geography, History, Government, Resources, and Noted Citizens of the State” with a nice map of Pennsylvania as the frontispiece. Various woodcut illustrations inside as well as smaller maps of the counties.
