Description: Original circa 1890's stereoview. The photos are sepia toned silver prints. The stereoview shows a photographer “Developing Plates”. Bottles of chemicals, numerous glass plates, & assorted equipment are shown. The title is hand inked on the front bottom edge of the mount. Undoubtedly a very rare view. The sepia stereoview photos are mounted on a buff colored slightly curved mount that is rounded at the corners (as made). The mount would give us a feeling of the early 1880's. However, there is a calendar in the photo which has a date in the 1890's. The first three digits indicate that the calendar is from the 1890's. But, we have not been able to make out the last digit in the date or the month on the calendar. The 1st day of the month shown is on a Thursday & the 31st day of the month shown is on a Saturday which would eliminate the years of 1893 & 1899 as possibilities. Based on the calendar dates analysis, assuming that the calendar in the photos is set on the correct month, we are able to determine that the photo was specifically taken in one of ten months. Those months are: Jan. 1890, Oct. 1890, Jan. 1891, Oct. 1891, Dec. 1892, March 1894, Aug. 1895, Oct. 1896, July 1897, Dec. 1898. Also present in the photos is an oak chair, probably made by the Larkin Company, which is of a type that was first produced in the early 1890's. There are a number of minute white specks on the photos which occurred in the making. The mount measures 7 inches long by 3 15/32 inches from top to bottom. There is minor wear to the matt & the bottom right corner has a bump. Please examine the photos closely & purchase based on your own judgement as to condition & value. This item is inventory #6627.
