Description: Handsome fold-out 1953 Esso gas station road map of New Jersey, printed more than 70 years ago. The map opens to 34" x 24" and has great detail on old highway alignments, with cartography by the General Drafting Company. There are insets of Trenton and the Camden-Philadelphia area, as well as a pictorial guide. On the reverse side there is a regional map of the metropolitan area, from Passaic County to Lakewood and Mantoloking. A small inset shows the Atlantic City-Ocean City area. The map was distributed by the Esso Standard Oil Company in 1953 and is dated in the legend. The code number in the lower margin is 49-10-52-N. The artwork on the front cover shows an Esso gas station, with a uniformed attendant giving directions to a traveling couple. Condition: This map is in very good condition, bright and clean, with no rips, tears, or writing.
