Description: Here are 3 empty wrappers for Zeno Chewing Gum, made in Chicago. The flavors are Blood Orange, Pepsin and Yucca. The company was founded in 1890, when the Rubber Paint Company, which used rubber to make a waterproof paint, decided to make chewing gum to use their excess chicle. A former soap salesman named William Wrigley soon worked with the company and used them to make his own gum, and in 1911, Zeno became part of Wrigley, though Zeno gum was still made for a number of years. I've seen some wrappers from after 1911, and they include the Wrigley name - these do not so they must date before 1911. The Pepsin wrapper refers to the 1906 Food and Drug Act, further limiting its date. The wrappers measure 2 3/4 by 7/8 inch jnches. All have some fading, and the Blood Orange has several small tears and a nick.
