Description: What a masterwork of stitching and placement of fabrics this is-It really tells a wonderful story. The detail in the stitching is wonderful, made from deep rich cottons, silks velvets and brocade fabrics. This quilt features many unique hand embroidered and hand painted motifs. One strip says Kimmie Gilmore from Mother, another signature is Grandma Gilroy, along with several embroidered initials. One of the flower motifs is a dimensional silk ribbon embroidery, along with butterfly, flowers, children playing, navy anchor. This quilt was carefully stored away for many years-It appears as if it were never used, there are a couple areas where the silk is shattering-as shown. The border fabric is damaged and shows wear and fading. (as shown). The quilt is backed with a brown cotton. This quilt is truly beautiful-a real show stopper-excellent piece of history.
