Description: A gorgeous antique; date letter V indicates this was made in 1884. It’s a porcelain Nautilus shell supported on a branch of coral with smaller shells, seaweed perched on a rocky mound. The edge of the circular base is molded with scallops and seaweed. It’s painted to simulate bronze and gilt, and the porcelain is printed and has impressed marks. Approx. 8.5” high, 5” wide, 4.25” deep Condition: Vase is in good condition but not without a few flaws (listed below and shown in photos). A. Repair on base: Looks like a small piece chipped from base and was glued back on. Approx half an inch high and wide. Some porcelain and gold paint is missing from this repair, and some paint chipping along bottom of whole base (not just in repair area). B. Chip on bottom of base. C. There are some tiny areas of paint rubbing: very minor but worth mentioning, an estimated 5 areas total. D. This is the worst flaw; a hairline crack that starts at edge of opening and wraps around the thin side of the shell, approx. 2.5” long. The crack has a miniscule area missing porcelain at the start. It looks as if it was glued/reinforced on the interior. Not to diminish it, but I didn’t even notice this until I photographed the item. Please note: Listing price is based on these small flaws. There is a pair of these online at an auction house for over $2k right now! There aren't a ton of these antique Royal Worcester Nautilus vases floating around. They're pricey, they're worth it!
