Description: Dock Builders polypropylene piling caps are an excellent and inexpensive way to protect costly pilings from internal rot. All of our caps are UV-stabilized to help withstand harsh outdoor weather conditions. Cone-shaped pile caps are an excellent choice if you want to deter birds from perching atop your pilings. In addition, the cone makes it easier to throw lines over pilings. Our black piling caps have an estimated life of 15 years, while our white caps have an estimated life of 9 years, though the actual life of the piling caps are not guaranteed. Mount with 1-1/4" stainless steel roofing nails or 1-1/4" stainless steel screws. Features: Long-lasting, UV stabilized polypropylene Cone design discourages birds and makes it easier to throw lines over pilings Measurement / Installation Guidelines: After all pilings have been cut to the appropriate height, measure the top of each piling at its widest point to determine which size piling cap is needed. Should the measurement fall between two sizes, then we generally recommend selecting the next larger size. Pre-drill each piling cap with three to four holes spaced evenly around the perimeter of the cap. Install the piling cap using stainless steel ring shank nails or stainless steel screws. It's important that the pile caps remain round to ensure that the end result is aesthetically pleasing. To accomplish this, we recommend that you only install the fastener until it is flush with the pile cap (do not screw in tight against the piling). There may be some unnoticeable small gaps under the cap where the piling is not perfectly round.
