Description: Please take the time to read through my entire item description and view all the photographs. I consistently prepare accurate and detailed descriptions and provide clear close up photographs for all my listings. The aforementioned notwithstanding, note the photos are still the biggest and most important part of this or any description. As the old saying goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words". If you would like additional photos or have specific questions just message me and I will respond ASAP. For your consideration is this solid wood detailed model of a vintage 1940’s Chris Craft style runabout speed boat affixed atop a beautiful display stand. This is a COMPLETE MODEL; not a kit you need to build. The boat is fully assembled and ready for display. This boat belonged to my father-in-law and was proudly displayed on his bookshelf for decades before it came into my possession. Note; this boat was not built in the 1940’s. It is a replica model of a 1940’s Chris Craft style speed/runabout pleasure boat that was handcrafted back sometime in the late 1960’s to mid 1970’s to pay homage to the American classic and iconic speed boat during that period in time. The boat sits on the display stand and is made out of solid wood. The piece weighs approximately 2.0 pounds. The overall measurements of the boat itself measures approximately 14.0" long and 4.75" wide, aka “beam”. The boat on the stand measures approximately 4.25” high at the “bow” (front) and 3-5/8” tall at the “stern” (rear) of the boat. The wood base the boat is securely affixed to measures approximately 9.75” long, 3-5/16” wide and .50” thick. The boat sits atop (2) brass pedestals that are securely attached to the base. Refer to description photos #17, #18, #19, #20, #21 and #22 to confirm the weight and size dimensions and for more details about what I have described. The boat’s bottom half of the hull has a glossy black “keel” and “draft” and the upper half, the “freeboard”, has beautifully mahogany stained walls that are separated by an exquisite gold colored pinstripe. Refer to description photos #1, #2, #3, #4, #7, #14, #15 and #16 for more details about what I have described. The top “deck” and upper edges the “gunwale”, aka “starboard” (right) and “port” (left) sides of the boat are hand painted to resemble teak wood planks. See description photos #5, #6, #8, #9, #10, #12 and #13 for more details. The interior of the boat features (2) two plastic bench seats and a “helm” equipped with a dashboard, two gauges and a steering wheel. See #9, #10 and #11. The front deck on the boat features detailed facsimiles of (2) two air-horns, a single center horn cleat, a searchlight, a red/green navigation light and (2) two straight bow chocks. Refer to description photos #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6 and #9 for more details. The boat’s upper rear deck features (2) two straight stern chucks and a center deck winch. Note; there also appears to be a small brass sleeve/holder that could possibly be a flagpole holder. Refer to description photos #1, #5, #9, #12 and #13 for more details. Additionally, there is also a “deck winch” located on both the boat’s port (left) and starboard (right) gunwales “sides”. See description photos #5, #9, #10, #12 and #13 to confirm the noted winches. As previously stated, the “helm” of the boat features a dashboard with two gauges and a steering wheel as depicted in description photos #9, #10 and #11. Refer to all the description photos for more details about what I have described. Overall, the boat remains in very good condition and displays beautifully. Despite a light cleaning, the surface of the boat still has some light dust from having been displayed on the shelf for years before being removed in preparation of this listing. The wood surfaces have a few scattered minor scuffs and light scratches from honest age and handling throughout the years but nothing you wouldn’t expect to see on a genuine vintage model like this. The boat’s plastic windshield is a little cloudy with dust and could use a “careful” cleaning as not to crack the thin plastic. Note; in my honest opinion, I would suggest NOT cleaning the plastic windshield and just leaving it alone as it really doesn’t detract from the overall aesthetics of the boat in its current state. The aforementioned notwithstanding, as a matter of full disclosure, there is one condition issue that I want to bring to your attention. The boat’s steering wheel has a small crack located at approximately the “11 o’clock” position on the wheel. The noted crack does not detract from the boat and is barely noticeable but I wanted to disclose the fact nevertheless. If the new owner of this beautiful model so desired, I believe they could very easily spot glue the small crack to stabilize it and perhaps touch it up with a little “Tester’s” gold colored model paint. Overall, this is truly a stunningly detailed and beautiful looking handcrafted genuine wood model boat that would absolutely look fantastic prominently displayed anywhere in your home or office. I believe any boat enthusiast or collector of vintage boat models would appreciate acquiring this piece for their collection and/or display. Refer to all the description photos to verify the overall condition of the boat and for more details about what I have described. Please look at the photos closely as they accurately depict the condition of the boat and display stand I describe and depict exactly what you will receive if you purchase this eye catching piece. If you have any questions or concerns or would like additional photos of the boat, please email me and I will respond ASAP.
