Description: POLYCHROME FAIENCE PLATE CREIL and MONTEREAU XIXth FASHION SINCE 100 YEARS N°5Clearly marked on bottomAntique French Faience Plate Creil & Montereau 100 Years of Fashion This is an antique plate printed in polychrome colors and depicting women’s and men’s fashion during the period of 1824 to 1830.The plate was made by the French firm of Creil & Montereau, a firm formed in 1840 through the merger of two companies.The Creil factory burned down in 1895 and by 1920, Montereau was acquired by Choisy-le-Roi.The image is captioned "Consulat 1799-1804" while the back of the plate is marked “La Mode Depuis Cent Ans” and with the Creil & Montereau “CM” mark.This is one of a number of plates in a series depicting French fashion from the late 18th to the late 19th century.The plate is made of earthenware. It measures 8” in diameter It is in very good condition with the exception of a bit of wear to the gold trim around the rim of the plate - otherwise, no chips or cracks and the image is strong and displays very well.
