Description: This listing is for an extremely rare Summagraphics MacTablet Model number MM1201. Comes with Connecting Adapter, Original Stylus AND ORIGINAL BOX (with some original Styrofoam). It measures 16" x 16" with the live drawing area of the tablet measuring 11.7” by 11.7”. The Summagraphics tablet was originally developed in 1979 to draw graphics on an Apple II computer. Summagraphics released a second iteration of the product in 1983, roughly concurrent with the production of the Apple IIe. (And, I do see someone in a blog post from 2023 using this version on a Macintosh SE.) The back of box gives copyright date of 1984 so can assume this is the second iteration. The Summgraphics Tablet does require a driver, which I understand can be downloaded here: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/mactablet-summagraphics-install. Once the driver is installed, the stylus connects with a phone-style jack. It moves the cursor on screen as you drag the point across the tablet and the single button acts as a mouse button. There’s a springiness to the nib of the stylus, which (also acts as a mouse button, so you can just push down to draw. Apple's 1981 Spring catalogue featured an advertisement for the MacTablet which stated: "The Utopia Graphics Tablet System includes a wide array of brush types for producing original shapes and functions, and provides 94 color options that can generate 40 unique brush shades. The Utopia Graphics Tablet provides a very easy way to create intricate designs, brilliant colors, and animated graphics." I found this tablet at an estate sale and it has not been tested. The only MacTablet I found online sold in March 2023 at auction for $1,300 untested and it did not have the stylus or the box. So, I've priced what I believe to be a fair price and open to offers.
