The belt needs to move freely without binding or without too much excess play. Are the belt's pulleys aligned and moving freely and moving the shafts equally as well? A belt should be positioned on the pulleys with a reasonable amount of "slack" as well. Are the shafts moving smoothly, do the bearings need lubrication? Do you feel or hear any "grinding" or roughness when turning the shafts? Do the shafts' surfaces need cleaning? Remove the belt (motor) housing and (carefully)allow tumbler to run while you watch these various mechanical movements. Everything should be freely and smoothing moving-silently.
