Description: Up for sale is a Very Rare, SIGNED, TRUE First Edition/First Printing of The Drifters by James A. Michener. SIGNED, TRUE First Editions of this Earlier Michener Title are Scarce and Becoming Increasingly Hard to Find!! ALL First Edition Points Present!! Hardcover with it's original, First State dust jacket, NOT price-clipped! Original price of $10.00. Published by Random House: New York, 1971. Boldly SIGNED by the celebrated author! NOT inscribed to anyone, simply SIGNED on the title page by the great James A. Michener! Please note there is an additional signature present on the same page! Initially, we believed the signature had some importance, but despite our best efforts we have been unable to ascertain, with an acceptable degree of certainty, the identity of the individual who also signed the book. Since we cannot determine the identity of the individual, we must apply an abundance of caution assume it is simply the signature of a previous owner! We MUST proceed under the belief that the other signature has no notable significance and adds no monetary value. If anything, the additional signature should be viewed as an unfortunate flaw! Once again, we want to repeat that there is another signature present on the same page and we believe it is simply the writing of a previous owner. A TRUE First American Edition/First Printing/First State with ALL First Edition Points present! This rare treasure has some VERY clearly visible wear/age, but is still in Highly Desirable, Highly Collectible condition! The wear, however, is considerable and should be carefully examined/considered BEFORE buying. The book appears gently read and other than the previous owner signature we mentioned earlier, has no internal writing, no remainder marks, no missing pages and is NOT Ex-Libris or a BCE. The binding is holding tight and the pages are still surprisingly crisp and clean! Some general/shelf/age wear along with a previous owner stamp on the first/illustrated page, scuffing/marks/wear to the spine/corners/cloth boards, marks/wear to the edge/fore pages and creases/marks/wear to the pages, NOT affecting the text! Please note the wear to the spine/cloth boards and the wear that is present on the pages! The marks on some of the pages are quite large and the creases are numerous and extensive. All of the wear previously mentioned is considerable and very clearly visible! The wear should be carefully examined/considered. As mentioned before, there is a previous owner stamp! The stamp contains the name of a previous owner and is located on the first/illustrated page. The stamp/page has been closely photographed for your consideration. The original, First State dust jacket is fully intact and NOT price-clipped but has substantial wear! Some general/shelf/age wear along with creases, scuffing, rips and marks. There are also numerous pieces of clear tape attached to the inside of the dust jacket! Please note the wear on the spine, at the corners and near/along the edges. The wear is considerable and very clearly visible! All of the wear should be carefully examined/considered. We tend to grade the condition of our books rather harshly and took into consideration any and all wear when determining the value of this rare treasure. Our VERY LOW asking price is a reflection of that consideration and if this copy was in better condition our asking price would be considerably higher. We purposely and closely photographed what we consider to be the most obvious and egregious wear. Once again, we want to reiterate that the wear to both the book and the dust jacket is considerable and VERY clearly visible! The wear is extensive/substantial and should be carefully examined/considered BEFORE buying. Numerous photographs from various angles were taken for your consideration/inspection. Please closely and carefully view ALL the pictures for further clarification!! Payment must be received within three days or the book will be re-listed. Please feel free to contact us with any and all questions. We are very proud of our 100% positive feedback/ranking and offer an easy, no questions asked return policy so you can buy with confidence! Thank you!!
