The Record Changer Jazz Magazine Vol 12 # 06 June 1953 Gennett Records Al Hawkes

Description: Note that this magazine comes from the estate of Maine country-western and bluegrass pioneer of Event Records, Allerton "Al" Hawkes. Al Hawkes is remembered for his pirate radio station, WW2A, which broadcast out of Maine in the 1940s; he and Alton Meyers performed together as the first interracial white-and-black country-bluegrass music duo, the Cumberland Ridge Runners, in the 1940s; and as the founder of Event Records, he recorded with musicians including a young Lenny Breau, Dick Curless, Hal Lone Pine, and Curtis Johnson. The iconic Hawkes Plaza Repair Shop walking service man sign on Route 302 in Westbrook, Maine, is also a very familiar part of his legacy to all Maine tourists and locals alike. Mr. Hawkes passed away on December 28, 2018. Please review pictures and condition description carefully. This magazine comes stored in a protective bag and board and ships taped between two pieces of sturdy cardboard in a plain poly mailing bag marked "FRAGILE DO NOT BEND" on both sides. Magazines ship USPS Ground Advantage or Priority Mail, buyer chooses and pays. We happily combine orders whenever possible. Homestead Estates is a small family business operating in rural Maine and serving the Sebago Lakes Region community. We proudly recycle packing materials to minimize our impact on the environment, reduce shipping costs, and save you money. We leave positive feedback to our buyers after we receive positive feedback ourselves or one month after the package has been delivered. If you are not happy with your purchase, please contact us directly before leaving feedback so we can work something out. If your package arrives damaged during shipment, please take pictures before opening. Note that we are located in and ship from rural Maine, so shipping delays due to bad weather are to be expected from time to time, but we generally drop off packages Monday through Friday within one business day of received payment. Please browse our other listings for more estate finds, retro collectibles, and great deals, and save our store so you never miss a bargain. Thank you for looking!
