Let me explain for those of you who do not know us. We are 3 friends (2 of us are chemists and the other a horticulturalist). We have been growing super hot peppers like Ghosts, Reapers, and Scorpions in South Florida for years and have a growing line of rare and unique hot sauces and extracts that we sell here and elsewhere. Anyway, a while ago we had a pharmacist approach us and asked if we could collaborate on an OTC pain relief ointment made with our extracts. He has over 30 years of experience in retail, hospital, nursing home, mail order, home infusion, and compounding pharmacy. A little research on chronic pain like diabetic neuropathies, neuropathic, and osteoarthritic pain relief products and the relief they do or don't provide showed us that most capsaicin products are simply too weak for those patients with such pain levels that these weak products simply don't give relief. Most products are well, well below 1% in strength. So what we have done is to come up with a formulation that we feel will help those who have already tried other, weaker products with no success. Our ointment is 3% capsaicin made from our hot pepper extracts and the formulation also contains 4% lidocaine as well as eucalyptus and wintergreen oils for fragrance. They were all made under a certified pharmacy hood and not on our kitchen tables. Our ointment has recently been found to help some people experiencing severe flare ups of Herpes Zoster (Shingles). Your results may vary and extreme caution should be used if your Shingles flare up is causing breaks in the skin. We generally advise our product be used on intact areas only. Please understand that this is not a numbing cream. Some people in our tests reported tingling, some did not. The important thing is this: use this ointment up to 3 times daily over 3-4 weeks. Depending on the size of the treatment area, use a small amount and rub the ointment in well for at least 1 minute. It's the cumulative and long term use that will provide relief. This is not morphine, or Ben Gay, or some other immediate relief ointment that will give you no real long term relief. And this product is not for those day to day aches and pains or sore muscles from playing tennis or working out. That's what Ben Gay is for. I will include a pair of gloves with purchase to get you started. If you choose to use your bare hands then make sure you wash your hands very well after use. Make absolutely sure that this product or fingers that have touched this product DO NOT touch your eyes, your genitals, or the inside of your nose lest you get hit with the same wild burning that would occur if you touched those areas after chopping hot peppers.
