U2 'The Best Of U2 1990-2000' TWO Disc CD Set, DVD, & 'Under A Blood Red Sky'!!

Description: The alternative rock and pop band U2 came roaring out of Ireland in 1976. Just think, in a couple more years, they'll be celebrating their FIFTY year anniversary! The band released their debut album titled 'Boy' in 1980, and have never looked back since... U2 was a major force in music in the 80s. They released several successful albums during that decade, including 'The Joshua Tree', which came out in 1987. That international smash hit has become one of the best selling albums of all time, selling over TWENTY FIVE MILLION copies worldwide, and over TEN MILLION albums here in the US alone! It also went to number one in TWENTY different countries... U2 would never repeat that level of success again, but they definitely sold millions of albums throughout the world during the 90s and the early 2000s. Two new studio albums came out in the 2010s, and only one in 2023. That one, called 'Songs of Surrender', is many tracks from their back catalog that were re-recorded. They had wanted to do that for many years, and it came from a year or more of isolation and lockdowns from covid, so it became an ambitious FOUR disc project. The band is still together after all these years. Still the same four guys. Still performing, as they recently completed a Vegas residency that went from Sept. '23 to March of this year. And most important, they are a classic rock band that is still relevant! In 2002, a U2 greatest hits compilation from 1990 to 2000 was released. The first single disc version includes SIXTEEN tracks, with new mixes of FIVE songs, plus a new song (the theme from the movie 'Gangs of New York' called "The Hands That Built America"). The deluxe edition adds a second disc of FOURTEEN remixed tracks. Some mixes you may have heard, and some you may not have. U2 was never scared of a remix, and here they've collected several of their best! Also in 2002, a DVD companion of the CD came out. It's SIXTEEN videos of the songs from the CD. With one exception. The last song on the CD is "The First Time". The last song on the DVD is the video of "The Fly" (as there is no video on the DVD for "The First Time"). The DVD also adds several more videos in the special features section, as well as directors' commentaries, and three mini-documentaries! It's a shame that these songs weren't mixed in surround sound, but they're here in PCM and Dolby Digital stereo. U2 never sounded (or looked) so good! Since it's the holidays, and I'm in a giving mood, I'll even add a combo of early U2 music and a video, and the reissue of the classic 'Under a Blood Red Sky'. The album came out originally on vinyl, and then on CD a few years later. That U2 vintage classic mini-album celebrated its FORTIETH anniversary last year, as it was originally released in 1983! The video came out in '84, and turned FORTY this year. It originally released on (the short-lived video tape format) Betamax and VHS, then on LaserDisc soon after. In 2008, 'U2 Live at Red Rocks', featuring both the CD ('Under a Blood Red Sky'), as well as the DVD of the concert, was released in a nice hard bound book that holds both discs, and has several pages in between with many awesome pics! The concert was remastered, and that job was directed by The Edge himself. They even add a few previously unreleased tracks to the show! The compilation CD and the remix CD look good, but both have a few light surface marks on them. Nothing bad, or that will affect play. Case looks new. The DVD has an outer slipcover that is showing signs of wear. The actual DVD itself has many light surface marks on it, but it plays just fine, amazingly enough! The inner case looks great. There's a space for a second disc (not included) in the inner case. The book's pages are in near perfect condition. Case looks awesome, also. The CD and the DVD both look really good, but have a few very light surface marks on them. A lot of times, these marks get made in the packaging (and the discs sliding in and out). The marks are nothing bad, hardly noticeable, and won't affect play. Bring home some great classic rock from U2, and the best of their stuff from 1990 to 2000, including the hits, new mixes, remixes, and videos! And go back in time, to the 80s, and the 'War' tour, with the mini-album 'Under a Blood Red Sky', as well as the concert from which it came: 'U2 Live at Red Rocks'. Both in a sweet collector's hard bound book! Sing along with the band for the beautiful and soaring "40", and you'll feel like you're at Red Rocks (a truly amazing venue) in Colorado.
