Description: Purchased directly from the artist. William H. Clarke (b. 1950), Blackstone (Nottoway County), Virginia, is a highly respected African American Folk Artist whose work is represented in significant private and museum collections. His work mostly reflects memories from his youth reflecting on the rural Southside Virginia culture of his time, but he does not shy away from national events in any way. Two of his paintings were recently part of a special exhibit in the Virginia's Governor's Mansion. This painting is 11.25" by 8.25" sight - acrylics on board - mounted on mat board and framed by the artist. The subject of this painting - Granny setting on the front porch snapping green beans. I must add here that I have many memories of my grandmother "Mom" in this precise pose. Mr. Clarke often created this image. I've owned three versions. 16" by 13" framed. Buyer pays for shipping and applicable sales tax.
