Description: Gentlemen, Offered here is this extremely scarce U.S.N. Deck Zippered jacket. This model is one of the rarest deck jackets out there. Introduced in 1941, this deck jacket was the first model adopted by U.S. Navy personnel during WWII. This earliest jacket's zipper would freeze in cold weather, making it difficult to operate and prone to salt water corrosion, reducing the life span of the jacket. In 1943 this model was replaced by the improved version with hooks. Throughout WWII, the deck jacket became an iconic symbol of U.S. Navy operations worldwide, and since then, it has been a highly coveted piece among collectors. Now, if you think the Hook version is hard to find, this Zippered version is almost impossible. The grade of preservation of this example is fantastic, considering it is over 80 years old. All parts are original and fully functional. This particular model was only produced for one year, making it rare to find in any condition. Adding that to the fact that it is a generous size 42, makes this piece nearly impossible to upgrade. This is a one-of-a-kind chance to own an original example in wearable condition.
